About Me
In my story, life has never been black and white. It’s about all the colours in between. I feel every person has their own colour, their own hue, their own shade. Perhaps that’s what drew me closer to working with people. I began working with young adolescents living on the streets more than two decades ago just freshly out of the University with a shiny certificate in my hands. Little did I know that the ‘University of Life’ had much more to teach than what I had learned sitting in the four walls of the classroom. These young people taught me so much. It challenged me in ways that I could not imagine. I would look for answers in people. Conversations, Individual conferences, and review meetings gave me insights into how the mind works and what it looks like, how emotions work, and how experiences and incidences impact us. they make us happy, surprised, sad and sometimes they haunt us.
I felt inadequate and I started looking for answers in various trainings and workshops. Back in time, there were very few opportunities to learn from experts in the field and whenever there were, I was there. I am glad I learned. It has got me where I am today. I built my expertise in Child Rights to Protection and Participation, Interventions to deal with sexual and gender-based violence, comprehensive sexuality education, and life skills. At the back of all of it was the strong foundation of the study of Sociology and Psychology.
I believe that everyone has a right to respectful and dignified living. Humans are complex beings and our perceptions of our lived experiences define us. Some of us face our demons, some of us decide to hide from it and some of us don’t want to acknowledge its existence. I feel that creates duality in our lives and we find it difficult to cope.
My approach is towards creating awareness, acknowledgment, and acceptance of these issues. I help my clients find better coping mechanisms and make healthier choices.
